A high quality of education is catered for with five day-care nurseries, one kindergarten, six elementary schools, four junior high schools, and one high school. Moreover, we are developing an educational environment befitting an International Research hub, with the establishment of classes taught in an English-based international school curriculum.
 An international school campus had been opened on September 3rd ,2008 in Dai-Ichi Junior high school. And the new facility for the international education is expected to be constructed in 2009.


The Cultural Exchange Plaza “SWANY”

 The Cultural Exchange Plaza, SWANY, is the hub of the Village’s cultural life. Many concerts and theatrical performances have taken place at SWANY’s 700 seats concert hall, which has been designed with excellent acoustics. The Cultural Exchange Plaza also accommodates a convention hall for up to 500 people, conference rooms, and a Japanese style room for tea ceremonies. SWANY hosts various special interest classes for string instruments, ballet, tea ceremony, and flower arrangement, among others.

 The adjoining village library features a collection of over 40,000 books, with a children’s space, audio-visual facilities, and links with libraries across Japan. Other public facilities hold classes in subjects as diverse as ikebana arrangement, pottery, patch-work, and tole-painting folk art.

The following ruins and earthen vessels, which were excavated around Lake Obuchi and Lake Takahoko in Rokkasho Village, have been registered as Important National Cultural Assets:
From the Ohishidaira Ruins comes a famous3,000 - 4,000 year old earthen vessel painted with red lacquer.
The Tominosawa Ruins has attracted great deal of nationwide attention the site of a large-scale settlement during the Jomon Era, similar to the “Sannai-Maruyama Ruins Ein Aomori-City.
